一, BMW E39 5 Series Car Radio Upgrade Replacement
1. BMW E39 5 Series Radio CD Player Removal
To remove the all-in-one IRIS radio, use the following steps:1) Remove the volume knob.
2) Insert the flat head screwdriver into the hole at 12 o 'clock position.
3) Turn 90 degrees counterclockwise to loosen the spring buckle.
4) Pull out the radio
5) The reqar connector is difficult to remove, Be gentle!
To remove an MID or a two-part radio, use the following steps:
1) Remove the volume knob.
2) Use #10 hexagon head and rotate 90 degrees counterclockwise to release the snap.
3) MID unit will pop up.
4) To remove the tape or CD player, fix it with the two screws below the MID unit that are now removed.
5) This steps is used only to remove MID radios.
This radio is attached by a round pin, exclusive to BMW. E39 radios since 2002 have flat pin connectors. Most aftermarket radios use flat pins, so to install an aftermarket in a pre-2002 E39 you will probably need an adapter, available on our website.
This system for removing radios can also be tested on other 1996-2003 BMW models. MID radios from the first generation X5 (E53) use MID or navigation devices from E39, as do Range Rovers from 2002-2006 (L322), so these instructions apply to these vehicles.
